“Doing Mathematics always means finding patterns and crafting meaningful and beautiful explanation.” - Paul Lockhart
Pattern making is a very interesting activity that is effective for learning and enhancing Math skills. This activity was great fun for Grade 1 Presidium students and it is a fun way to discover patterns. This activity helps kids learn it in a gratifying and engaging way. In this activity, students used the right tools e.g. Cutouts of different shapes, objects, colours, and numbers, etc. While learning this math skill, students observe some examples of patterns through video and they identify characteristics and predict what comes next. After identifying a pattern, children were able to demonstrate their mastery of this skill by creating their very own patterns with a variety of math manipulations. These pattern activities will help kids learn patterns and apply that knowledge to other math situations.
